 FIRST DEGREE MURDER CHARGES FILED

 

Denver District Attorney Mitch Morrissey formally charged two juveniles as adults today in connection with a murder and attempted murder on July 21, 2005.

 

Jammie Lee Prince (DOB: 03-26-88) is charged with first- degree murder (F-1), criminal attempt to commit first-degree murder (F-2) and crime of violence, a sentence enhancer.

 

William Johnson (DOB: 02-08-88) is also charged with first-degree murder (F-1) and criminal attempt to commit first-degree murder (F-2).

 

The charges allege that in the early morning hours on July 21, 2005  several people were standing in a backyard at at 2851 Columbine Street  when shots were fired into the group.  One victim, identified as Cruz Castellanos (05-26-85) died at the scene; the other victim was transported to Denver Health Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the leg.

 

Prince and Johnson remain in custody in the Denver County Jail.  They are scheduled to appear in Denver County Court, room 12T on Tuesday, August 2, 2005 at 9:00 a.m. to be advised of the charges.
