YOUNG MAN CHARGED IN FRIEND’S DEATH

Denver District Attorney Mitch Morrissey has charged a 19-year-old man in connection with the shooting death of a life-long friend.

Adrien Ramsey (DOB: 04-17-86) is charged with criminally negligent homicide (F5).

The charge alleges that Ramsey and his friend, 19-year-old Ray Russell, were at Ramsey’s home on August 25, 2005 when a shotgun they were handling went off and injured Russell.  He later died at Denver Health Medical Center.

Ramsey remains in the Denver County Jail.  His bond has been set at $50,000. He is scheduled to appear in Denver County Court, room 12T, on Friday, September 2, 2005 at 9 a.m. to be formally advised of the charge.

The presumptive range for sentencing on a class 5 felony is up to 3 years in prison.
