DENVER CHARGES MAN POSING AS COP

Denver District Attorney Mitch Morrissey has formally charged a man accused of posing as a police officer and sexually assaulting two women in Denver.

Michael Ricks (DOB: 06-16-59) is charged with two counts of second-degree kidnapping (F3), two counts of sexual assault (F4), patronizing a child prostitute (F3), inducement of a child prostitute (F3), and three counts of impersonating a peace officer (F6).

The charges allege that Ricks was impersonating a police officer in January and February when he sexually assaulted a 17-year-old woman and a 26-year-old woman in separate incidents.

Ricks remains in custody in the Douglas County Jail where he faces similar charges in the 18th Judicial District.  He is scheduled to be advised of the new Denver charges on May 11, 2005 at 9 a.m. in Denver County Court, room 12T.
