MOM GUILTY ON ALL COUNTS

A Denver jury returned its verdict in the People v. Rodriguez case today, finding Karen Rodriguez guilty on all 24 counts of sexual assault on a child and aggravated incest.  The charges alleged that Rodriguez participated in the repeated sexual assaults of her own children with her husband, Edward Rodriguez.  The jury deliberated about 2-and-a-half hours before reaching its verdict.

The case was prosecuted by Deputy DA’s Kerri Lombardi and David Lamb.  They spoke briefly after the verdict, thanking the jury panel for their service in an extraordinarily difficult trial.

Rodriguez will be sentenced on October 24, 2005 at 1:30 p.m.  She faces an indeterminate to life sentence of at least 16 years in prison.

Edward Rodriguez, who pleaded guilty earlier to two counts of sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust, will be sentenced on August 29, 2005 at 1:15 p.m. in connection with the case.  He faces an indeterminate to life sentence of at least 8 years in prison.
