RODRIGUEZ SENTENCED TO 200 YEARS

A Denver District Court judge handed down a 200-year prison sentence today to a man who, along with his wife, sexually assaulted their children over the course of many years.

Edward Rodriguez (DOB: 08-11-45) was given 100 years in prison for each of two counts of sexual assault on a child, representing each of two victims. The sentences are to be served consecutively.  The sentence ensures that Rodriguez will spend the rest of his life in prison.

Denver District Court Judge Christina Habas told the defendant that she could not find the words to express how she felt about his crimes.  Denver prosecutors David Lamb and Kerri Lombardi urged the judge to consider that he needed to be kept away from society and punished for the terrible things he did to his children.

Rodriguez did not speak on his own behalf at the sentencing hearing.

His wife, Karen Rodriguez, was found guilty at trial of participating in the sexual assaults. She will be sentenced in October.
