MAN CHARGED IN VEHICULAR HOMICIDE IS CONVICTED

A man charged with two counts of vehicular homicide and DUI which resulted in the death of a young woman last summer has been found guilty of all charges by a Denver jury.

56-year-old Ramon David Romero was driving while intoxicated on July 18, 2004.  He was eastbound on Alameda approaching Holly Street when he slammed into the rear of a vehicle driven by 19-year-old Sonja Devries.  Devries was pronounced dead later at Denver Health Medical Center.  The accident also involved three other surrounding vehicles.

Romero was convicted and faces up to 24 years in prison.  Sentencing will be June 7, 2005 in Denver District Courtroom 23.
