MAN CHARGED IN
VEHICULAR HOMICIDE IS CONVICTED
A man charged with two counts of
vehicular homicide and DUI which resulted in the death of a
young woman last summer has been found guilty of all charges by
a Denver jury.
56-year-old Ramon
David Romero
was driving while intoxicated on July 18, 2004. He was
eastbound on Alameda approaching Holly Street when he slammed
into the rear of a vehicle driven by 19-year-old Sonja Devries.
Devries was pronounced dead later at Denver Health Medical
Center. The accident also involved three other surrounding
vehicles.
Romero was convicted and faces
up to 24 years in prison. Sentencing will be June 7, 2005 in
Denver District Courtroom 23.
