FORMER COP PLEADS GUILTY IN BAR BRAWL INCIDENT

A Denver police officer has pleaded guilty to third-degree assault today in connection with an off-duty incident that occurred in May 2004.

Michael Rossi (DOB: 08-30-64) was working off-duty providing security at a Denver restaurant on May 2, 2004 when a confrontation occurred between a man and restaurant staff.  Rossi intervened, but was accused of hitting the 25-year-old man after the altercation had ended and the man was handcuffed.

Rossi faces sentencing on March 18, 2005 but is formally resigning from the Denver Police Department today as part of the plea.
