SUSPECTED BURGLAR FACING 40 FELONY COUNTS

Denver District Attorney Mitch Morrissey has charged a Denver man in connection with a series of burglaries dating back to September 2002.

Jeffrey Trott (DOB: 08-26-53) is charged with 40 counts of second-degree burglary (F3).

Trott was arrested and taken into federal custody on June 27, 2005 on a federal arrest warrant for the suspected possession and sale of stolen firearms.

On September 10, 2005 the Denver Police Department conducted a public viewing of stolen items that had been recovered from numerous burglaries and many of the items were linked with their original owners.  The Denver DA’s Office has filed 40 counts of second-burglary representing 38 victims.  The stolen items included laptop computers, electronic equipment such as digital cameras, firearms and jewelry.

Trott is currently in federal custody.  He will be formally advised of the 40 burglary charges on November 11, 2005 at 9:00 a.m. in Denver County Court, room 12T.
