AL-YOUSIF FOUND GUILTY OF MURDER

A Denver jury has found 25-year-old Naif Al-Yousif (DOB: 9-12-78) guilty of first-degree felony murder (F1) and additional charges in connection with the death of a fellow Saudi Arabian student in 2001.

Al-Yousif was also convicted of robbery, theft by receiving, accessory after the fact, and concealing a death in the murder of Abdulaziz Al-Kohaji whose body was found on February 6, 2001 at the Erie, Colorado landfill.  Al-Yousif will be given a mandatory sentence of life in prison without parole when he is sentenced on January 5, 2004.

The jury found Al-Yousif not guilty of first-degree murder after deliberation and conspiracy to commit murder.  Two other suspects in the murder fled to Saudi Arabia shortly after the murder.  It is reported that they remain in custody under a death sentence there.
