CHARGES FILED IN SEXUAL ASSAULT CASE

Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter, Jr. filed formal charges today against a man accused of sexually assaulting a teenage girl he knew through his church.

MacFranklin (Matt) Alexander (DOB: 7-19-76) is charged with sexual assault on a child, pattern of abuse (F3) and sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust (F4).

The charges allege that Alexander sexually assaulted a teenaged girl during a time period that began in July 2002 and ended November 1, 2002. 

Alexander remains in the Denver County Jail.  His bond was set at $50,000.  His next court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday, November 19, 2002 at 8:30 in Denver County Court, room 12T, when he will be advised of the charges.
