MAN CHARGED IN HIT & RUN DEATH

Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter, Jr. filed a felony charge today against a man accused of hitting a pedestrian with his car just before midnight on December 6, 2002, then fleeing the scene.  The victim, Cara French, died from her injuries.

Daniel Arguello (DOB: 8-21-68) is charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death (F4).

The charge alleges that the victim was crossing Colfax Avenue against the light when she was hit and that Arguello did not stop and remain at the scene as required.  Following several days of media coverage about the accident and French’s death, Arguello contacted the Denver Police Department through an attorney and surrendered to police on December 12, 2002.

Arguello is scheduled to be formally advised of the charge on December 27, 2002 at 9 a.m. in Denver County Courty, room 12T.  He has been released from custody on $3,000 bond.
