ATTEMPTED PURSE SNATCHER CHARGED

Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter, Jr. has charged a man accused of trying to rob a 63-year-old woman.

Jamie Wise (DOB:12-22-71) is charged with attempted robbery of an at-risk adult (F4), and third-degree assault of an at-risk adult (F6).

The charges allege that on December 10, 2003, Wise came up behind the victim from and grabbed her purse.  She refused to let go of her purse and was dragged along the ground until the attacker let go and fled on foot.  The victim called police and provided a description of her attacker.  A person fitting that description was later spotted, identified and taken into custody.  She sustained minor injuries.

Wise is currently being held on $50,000 bond in Denver County Jail.  He will appear in Denver County Court, room 12t, on Tuesday, December 16, 2003 at 9:00 am to be advised of the charges.
