CHARGES FILED IN MURDER & ROBBERY

Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter, Jr. filed formal charges against a man today in connection with last week’s aggravated robbery at a Subway sandwich store.

Frederick Barker (DOB: 12-14-83) is charged with aggravated robbery (F3) and first-degree assault (F3).

The charges allege that on October 21, 2002, Barker attacked and robbed a Subway store worker at Colfax Avenue and Quince Street.  The victim is recovering from his injuries in the attack.

Barker will be formally charged with first-degree murder after deliberation (F1), first-degree felony murder (F1), and aggravated robbery (F3) on Monday in connection with the murder and robbery of Babajide Kassim, a Denver cab driver.  Kassim was found dead in his cab on August 26, 2002 near 39th  Avenue and Olive Street.

Barker remains under investigation and additional charges are possible at a later date.
