BROWN PLEADS GUILTY TO MURDER

20-year-old Edward Brown, scheduled to go on trial this week in connection with last summer’s murder of DeMarco Taylor, pleaded guilty to first-degree felony murder this morning in Denver District Court.  Brown had been charged with both first-degree murder after deliberation and first-degree felony murder in the case.  He now faces a mandatory sentence of life in prison without parole.

To afford the victim’s family an opportunity to address the court, Brown’s sentencing has been scheduled for May 20, 2002.

He still has a pending first-degree murder and attempt murder case pending in Denver, and an additional murder case pending in Arapahoe County.
