CHILD TELLS SCHOOL COUNSELOR OF ALLEGED SEX ASSAULTS; FUGITIVE BABYSITTER CHARGED

Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter, Jr. formally filed charges today against Paulo Calvillo (DOB: 6-18-74). Calvillo is charged with sexual assault on a child (F4), sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust (F3) and sexual assault on a child – pattern of abuse (F3). The charges allege that he repeatedly fondled a 9-year-old girl for whom he baby-sat.

According to police reports, the alleged victim attended a class at her elementary school in March on appropriate and inappropriate touching. After the class, she approached her school counselor and reported the alleged assaults.

A warrant for Calvillo’s arrest was issued by Denver Police in April, but he was at large until he was located and detained in Ventura County, California on July 16, 2003. The date of his appearance in Denver County Court is not available at this time.
