CARCEL SENTENCED IN GIRLFRIEND'S MURDER

38-year-old Anthony Carcel was sentenced today for the 2001 murder of his girlfriend, Deneane Gray.

Carcel pleaded guilty earlier in January 2003 to second-degree murder (F2) and was sentenced to 48 years in prison today.  He was given an additional three years in prison for violating his probation on an earlier theft case.

Carcel admitted killing Gray during an argument on October 21, 2001.  Her body was found ten days later on November 1, 2001 in the bedroom closet of the apartment they shared.  He apologized to her family during the sentencing hearing and asked for their forgiveness.
