Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter, Jr. has filed additional charges
against Edward Brown (DOB: 8-11-81) in connection with a fatal shooting
incident that occurred on March 23, 2001 in Denver. Brown was charged
earlier in the murder of DeMarco Taylor. He now faces charges in
connection with the murder of Felix Sharp, Jr. and the wounding of Lymas
Gaines and Tyler Jones. The victims were all attending a party in the 5500
block of Billings Street when the shooting occurred. Brown is charged with
first degree murder (F1), two counts of attempted murder
(F2), and two counts of first degree assault (F3). Brown remains in
custody without bond in the Denver County Jail.
A first degree murder charge was filed today against Michael Bell (DOB:
1-9-50) in connection with the 1995 murder of a Denver man. The victim,
Terry Wilson, was found in the 2200 block of Curtis Street on October 21,
1995 with multiple stab wounds. He was taken to the hospital and treated.
Three months later Wilson died of pneumonia caused by his injuries.
Although Bell had been a suspect at the time, there was not enough
evidence to file criminal charges. New information became available to the
Denver Police Department in August 2001. Bell is charged with first
degree murder (F1) and an at-large warrant has been issued for his
arrest.
Charges were also filed today in connection with a sexual assault case
that occurred July 29, 2001 on the 16th Street Mall. Jamie
Deluca (DOB: 1-18-82) is charged with two counts of sexual assault on a
child (F4), two counts of sexual assault on a child with force
(F3) and two counts of attempted robbery (F5). The charges allege
that Deluca subjected two 13-year-old girls to unlawful sexual contact and
attempted robbery. Deluca is in custody in the Denver County Jail. An
arrest warrant has been issued for a second suspect, 18-year-old Arika
Graham (DOB: 4-16-83), who remains at large.
