July 11, 2001

Contact: Lynn Kimbrough, 720-913-9025

Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter, Jr. has filed formal charges against a 35-year-old man accused of attacking his girlfriend with a knife and later turning on police who had responded to investigate.

Christopher Olguin (DOB: 12-29-65) is charged with attempted first degree murder (F2), two counts of first degree assault (F3), menacing (F5), and vehicular eluding (F5).

On July 7, 2001 a 31-year-old woman was found with multiple stab wounds in the 800 block of South Irving Street. A suspect was later located after eluding police and was shot after coming toward an officer with a knife. He is recovering from a gunshot wound to the shoulder.

Olguin is tentatively scheduled to be advised of the charges against him on Friday, July 13, 2001 at 9:00 a.m. in Denver County Courtroom 12T.
