Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter, Jr. has filed formal misdemeanor charges against four former deputies with the Denver Sheriff Department in connection with an investigation at a Denver impound lot.

Charles Enriquez (DOB: 5-19-39) and Ralph Leonard (DOB: 4-29-45) are charged with first degree official misconduct (M2).

Donald Gillette (DOB: 3-1-41) and Rodney Romero (DOB: 10-18-59) are charged with second degree official misconduct (class 1 petty offense).

The sentencing range for a class 2 misdemeanor is 3 to 12 months in jail and a fine of up to $1,000. The range for a class 1 petty offense is up to 6 months in jail and a fine of up to $500.

The charges are the result of an investigation into allegations that miscellaneous items were taken from the impound lot. They were each served with a Criminal Summons and Complaint, and are scheduled appear in Denver County Court next month to be formally advised of the charges.
