CHARGES FILED IN VANDALISM CASE

Delinquency petitions have been filed today against three juveniles in connection with a burglary and vandalism case that occurred at Smoky Hill High School in July.

16-year-old Mark Forrester Owens (DOB: 5-1-86), 17-year-old Nicholas Ross Giardina (DOB: 4-4-85), and 16-year-old Tristan Noel-Pierre Volpi (DOB: 11-27-85) are each charged with second degree burglary of a building (F4) and criminal mischief (F4).

The delinquency petition alleges that all three broke into a secure area of Smoky Hill High School, 16100 Smoky Hill Road, Aurora on July 26, 2002 and caused damage to personal and real property.  Each of the teenagers will be served a summons and will be scheduled to appear in Arapahoe County Juvenile Court later this fall.

Owens, Giardina and Volpi are being charged as juveniles.  State statute provides for the identification of any juvenile charged with a Class 1, 2, 3, or 4 felony.

The incident occurred in Aurora and the case is filed in the 18th Judicial District.  The Denver District Attorney’s Office was appointed Special Prosecutor at the request of the 18th Judicial District.
