CHARGES FILED AGAINST SEXUAL ASSAULT SUSPECT

Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter, Jr. formally charged Erick Salazar-Rivasplata
(DOB: 9-7-76) today in connection with the kidnapping and sexual assault
of a 7-year-old girl that occurred on January 8, 2001.
Salazar-Rivasplata is charged with second degree kidnapping (F2) and
sexual assault on a child (F3). He is not in custody and an at-large
warrant has been issued for his arrest. The issuance of an at-large
warrant enables any law enforcement agency in the country to arrest him.
It also places his name on the National Crime Information Computer.
