CHARGES FILED IN TWO SEPARATE MURDER CASES

Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter, Jr. has filed formal charges today in connection with two separate homicide cases.

Sean Hanify (DOB: 1-20-71) is charged with first-degree murder (F1) in connection with the death of 46-year-old Mark Davis.  His body was found July 24, 2000 by Denver city workers who were clearing branches along Cherry Creek at 6th Avenue and Lincoln Street.  The investigation into his death has remained open.  Hanify was arrested last August (August 8, 2002) on unrelated charges and further investigation by the Denver Police Department linked Hanify with the Davis murder.

Ashley Webb (DOB: 3-27-84) has been charged with first-degree murder after deliberation (F1), first-degree felony murder (F1), and first-degree aggravated motor vehicle theft (F4) in connection with the death of 46-year-old Thomas McKinney.  McKinney’s body was found on November 14, 2002 in his home in the 5300 block of Scranton Street.  Webb had also been living in the home and was identified as a suspect.  He was located and arrested on November 16, 2002.

Hanify and Webb are each tentatively scheduled to appear in Denver County Court, room 12T, on Monday, November 25, 2002, at 8:30 a.m. to be formally advised of the charges.
