MURDER CHARGES FILED IN YEAR OLD CASE

January 22, 2002

Contact: Lynn Kimbrough, 720-913-9025

Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter, Jr. has filed formal charges in connection with the murder of a Denver man that occurred last February.

33-year-old Ronald Waterhouse, Jr. (DOB: 8-21-68) is charged with first-degree murder after deliberation (F1), first-degree felony murder (F1), second-degree burglary (F3), two counts of forgery (F5), second-degree aggravated motor vehicle theft (F6), and unauthorized use of financial transaction device (M2).

The body of 62-year-old Anthony J. Quintana was found in his Denver home on February 22, 2001. His house had been ransacked and his wallet and car were missing. Waterhouse, Jr. was identified as a suspect after allegedly using the victim's credit card and checking account.

Although a warrant was issued for his arrest, Waterhouse, Jr. fled Colorado. He was recently located and was taken into custody without incident last Friday, January 18, 2002 in Indiana. He was formally charged by the Denver District Attorney yesterday, January 22, 2002, and remains in custody in Indiana pending extradition.

*The filing of a criminal charge is merely a formal accusation that an individual(s) committed a crime(s) under Colorado laws. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. See Colo. RPC 3.6
