JUVENILE PLEADS GUILTY IN TEEN’S DEATH

A 14-year-old teenager charged in the shooting death of another teen earlier this month has pleaded guilty to reckless manslaughter today.

Eric Coleman (DOB: 7-27-89) entered the plea in Denver Juvenile Court and will be sentenced in October as juvenile.  In exchange for his guilty plea, a ‘possession of a handgun by a juvenile’ charge was dismissed.

Coleman was charged in connection with the July 30th, 2003 shooting death of 15-year-old Samuel Burks, Jr. of Denver.

Sentencing ranges from probation up to two years in the Division of Youth Corrections.
