MAN CHARGED IN KIDNAPPING

 

Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter, Jr. has charged a man accused of stalking young girls.

 

Mark Crnolatas (DOB: 3-1-58) is charged with second-degree kidnapping (F2), sexual assault on a child (F4), felony menacing (F5), and harassment/stalking (M3).

 

The charges are the result of a Denver police investigation and allege that on November 13, 2003, Crnolatas followed and harassed a middle school student as she walked home from school.  The charges also allege he followed, kidnapped at knifepoint, and sexually assaulted another middle school student on November 14, 2003 on her way home from school.

 

Crnolatas remains in custody in the Denver County Jail.  Bond was set at $50,000.  He is scheduled to appear in Denver County Court, room 12T, on Tuesday, December 2, 2003 at 9:00 a.m. to be formally advised.

 

The presumptive range for sentencing on a class 2 felony is up to 24 years in prison; the range for a class 4 felony is up to 6 years in prison; the range for a class 5 felony is 3 years in prison; the range for a class 3 misdemeanor is up to 6 months in jail.
