The Denver District Attorney's Office has been formally recognized
as a leader in community and restorative justice by the Colorado Forum on
Community and Restorative Justice. At a recent statewide conference,
Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter, Jr. received the first-ever
"John Inmann Program Award" for excellence.*
He received the award on behalf of the entire Denver District
Attorney's Office including the Victim Services 2000 program, Juvenile
Diversion, Community Justice Unit, and the Juvenile Incentive Block Grant
program.
The award honors excellence in criminal justice reform and recognizes
the Denver DA's Office specifically for its leadership in restorative
justice. The Denver DA's Office brings victims, community members and
offenders together to resolve crime issues in a way that benefits all
involved.
*The award is named for John Inmann, a leader in criminal justice
reform in Colorado until his recent death. He believed that individual
communities should drive their own public safety agenda and he supported
many new approaches to public safety that involved citizens in the
process.
