MAN CHARGED IN AMUSEMENT PARK ASSAULT

Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter, Jr. charged an 18-year-old man today in connection with a fondling incident at the Six Flags Elitch Gardens amusement park last weekend.

David Fernandez-Martinez (DOB: 6-30-84) was charged with one count of sexual assault on a child (F4). The charge alleges that on June 14, 2003, Fernandez-Martinez befriended a 13-year-old girl, lured her to a secluded area of the park, and fondled her.

He remains in the Denver County Jail. His bond has been set at $10,000. He is scheduled to appear in Denver County Court, room 12T, on Friday, June 20, 2003 at 9:00 a.m. to be formally advised of the charges.

The presumptive range for sentencing on a class 4 felony is 2 to 6 years in prison.
