DENVER DA and JEFFCO DA FACE OFF IN BROOMBALL BATTLE
December 7, 2001

Contact: Lynn Kimbrough, 720-913-9025

Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter, Jr. and Jefferson County District Attorney Dave Thomas have challenged each other to an official Broomball battle, pitting co-ed teams of victim advocates, attorneys and staff against each other for charity.

WHEN: Monday, December 10, 2001 at 6 p.m.

WHERE: The Rink Downtown, 16th Street Mall at Arapahoe Street

Ritter, who played broomball in law school, issued the challenge to Thomas last week. Thomas accepted without hesitation after realizing he had two employees who played on championship broomball teams.

Broomball is similar to ice hockey except that players wear sneakers instead of ice skates, and use a broom instead of a hockey stick. The Downtown Denver Partnership has arranged a series of broomball games this month with player fees going to charity.
