MULTIPLE CHARGES FILED AGAINST MAN ON PAROLE

 

Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter, Jr. formally filed multiple kidnapping and sexual assault charges today against a man who was on parole for a previous violent crime.

 

Donald Garcia (DOB: 4-6-59) is charged with sexual assault – overcome victim’s will – aggravated by a deadly weapon (F2), sexual assault – overcome victim’s will – aggravated by the use of force (F3), sexual assault – overcome victim’s will (F4), second-degree kidnapping – aggravated by a sex offense (F2), second-degree kidnapping – aggravated by a deadly weapon (F3) and second-degree kidnapping (F4).

 

The charges allege that on July 21, 2003, Garcia attacked a former girlfriend.

 

Garcia was on parole. In 1986, he was sentenced to 30 years in prison for attempted first-degree murder and first-degree assault (in a Denver case).

 

He is being held in the Denver County Jail on $200,000 bond, and is scheduled to appear in Denver County Court, room 12T, on Wednesday, July 30, 2003 to be advised of the charges.
