CHARGES FILED IN FATAL WRECK

Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter, Jr. has filed formal charges
against two men involved in a fatal, multi-car accident in April. The
accident occurred on April 24, 2001 on I-70 at Peoria Street.
24-year-old Santee Magpie (DOB: 1-6-77) is charged with vehicular
homicide (F4), no commercial driver's license (Traffic
Offense), and defective vehicle (Traffic Offense).
33-year-old Darren Magpie (DOB: 6-10-67) is charged with vehicular
homicide (F4), permitting an unauthorized person to drive
(Traffic Offense), and defective vehicle (Traffic Offense).
The accident involved a dump truck and trailer driven by Santee Magpie
that jackknifed on the highway causing an accident with three other
vehicles. Darren Magpie owned the dump truck and trailer and was a
passenger at the time of the accident. The victim, 15-year-old Christopher
Wilkinson, was a passenger in one of the vehicles. He was taken to Denver
Health Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Both defendants are scheduled to appear in Denver County Court room 12T
on June 18, 2001, at 9:00 a.m. to be formally advised of the charges
against them.
