Contact: Lynn Kimbrough, 720-913-9025

Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter, Jr. has filed formal charges against two men involved in a fatal, multi-car accident in April. The accident occurred on April 24, 2001 on I-70 at Peoria Street.

24-year-old Santee Magpie (DOB: 1-6-77) is charged with vehicular homicide (F4), no commercial driver's license (Traffic Offense), and defective vehicle (Traffic Offense).

33-year-old Darren Magpie (DOB: 6-10-67) is charged with vehicular homicide (F4), permitting an unauthorized person to drive (Traffic Offense), and defective vehicle (Traffic Offense).

The accident involved a dump truck and trailer driven by Santee Magpie that jackknifed on the highway causing an accident with three other vehicles. Darren Magpie owned the dump truck and trailer and was a passenger at the time of the accident. The victim, 15-year-old Christopher Wilkinson, was a passenger in one of the vehicles. He was taken to Denver Health Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Both defendants are scheduled to appear in Denver County Court room 12T on June 18, 2001, at 9:00 a.m. to be formally advised of the charges against them.
