Woman Charged with Child Abuse and Animal Cruelty

 

 

Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter, Jr. has formally filed charges against a woman found living in unhealthy conditions with her 13-year-old adopted daughter.

 

50-year-old- Mary Flanagan (DOB: 07-27-52) is charged with child abuse (M2), and cruelty to animals (M1).

 

The charges allege that, on January 26, 2003, Flanagan and the 13-year-old girl were found to be living in a house in the 4800 block of South Hoyt Street that was filled with trash and numerous dead animals.

 

Flanagan has been issued a criminal summons and complaint.  She is scheduled to appear in court at 8:00 a.m. on February 27th, 2003 in Denver County Court room 11S, for arraignment.

 

The range for sentencing on a class 1 misdemeanor is probation to 18 months in jail and up to a $5000 fine.  The range for a class 2 misdemeanor is probation to 12 months in jail and up to a $1000 fine.
