FILED AGAINST GERALD LEWIS

Denver
District Attorney Bill Ritter, Jr. filed formal charges today
against Gerald Lewis (DOB:11-11-67) in connection with a
kidnapping and sexual assault that occurred on January 3, 2002
in Denver.
Lewis is
charged with two counts of second degree kidnapping (F2
and F4), sexual assault (F3) and second degree
burglary (F4).
The victim, a
15-year-old girl, was babysitting a younger child at a Denver
church when she was kidnapped and assaulted. Denver police
detectives identified Lewis as a suspect and obtained an
arrest warrant on January 19, 2002. Lewis remains in custody
in the Denver County Jail. His bond was set at $10 million
dollars.
He is
scheduled to appear in Denver County Court, room 12T, on
Monday, January 28, 2002, at 8:30 a.m. to be formally advised
of the charges against him.
The
presumptive range for sentencing on a class two felony is 8 to
24 years in prison; the range for a class three felony is 4 to
12 years; the range for a class four felony is 2 to 6 years.
