GIPSON SENTENCED IN SEX ASSAULT CASES

James Gipson (DOB: 11-19-73) was sentenced today to an indeterminate sentence of 50 years up to life in prison for a series of kidnappings and sexual assaults that occurred in August and September of 2000.

Gipson worked in concert with Melissa Todd to commit the sexual assaults, in which Todd lured women from such locations as Denver’s 16th Street Mall under the guise of attending a lingerie party.  Four women were kidnapped and later sexually assaulted.  Todd is serving a 25-year prison sentence for her role in the assaults.

Gipson pleaded guilty last fall to four counts of sexual assault, four counts of first-degree kidnapping, one count of burglary, and additional sentencing aggravator counts.
