CHARGES FILED IN SEPARATE POLICE-SHOOTING INCIDENTS

 

Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter, Jr. formally charged two men who allegedly shot at police in separate incidents earlier this week.

 

Ernesto Godina (DOB: 10-21-85) is being charged as an adult with six counts of attempted first-degree murder (F2), two counts of first-degree assault to a peace officer (F3) and one count each of criminal mischief (F4) and illegal discharge of a firearm (F5). He was arrested after he allegedly fired at police and others near a convenience store early Monday morning, June 23, 2003. No one was hurt.

 

He is being held without bond and will be formally advised of the charges against him on Monday, July 7, 2003 at 8:30 a.m. in Denver District Court, Courtroom 23.

 

In a separate case, Richard Lilgerose (DOB: 2-18-76) is charged with two counts of first-degree assault to a peace officer (F3), three counts of aggravated robbery (F3) and one count each of unlawful sexual contact (F4), attempted first-degree assault on a peace officer (F4), false report of explosives (F6) and failure to leave premises when ordered by police (M1). The charges allege that on June 19, 2003, he robbed three women, sexually assaulted one, and then engaged police in a standoff at his home near Federal Boulevard and Alameda Avenue, during which he fired on officers.

 

Lilgerose is being held in the Denver County Jail; his bond is set at $100,000. He will appear in Denver County Court, Room 12T, on Tuesday, July 1, 2003 at 9 a.m. to be advised of the charges.
