CHARGES FILED IN MURDER  

Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter, Jr. filed formal charges today in connection with the death of 59-year-old Ed Brown, whose body was found in an apartment on August 6, 2002 by firefighters extinguishing an apartment fire.

Sean Hanify (DOB: 1-20-70) is charged with first-degree murder (F1), felony murder (F1), aggravated robbery (F3), first-degree aggravated motor vehicle theft (F3), and first-degree arson (F3).

Hanify was charged yesterday with first-degree burglary (F3), first-degree aggravated motor vehicle theft (F4), and possession of a weapon by a previous offender (F5) in connection with a burglary in the 200 block of South Alcott Street on August 5, 2002.

Hanify remains in custody in the Denver County Jail and is scheduled to be advised of the murder charges against him on Monday, August 19, 2002 at 9:00 a.m.
