GUILTY PLEA IN VEHICULAR HOMICIDE

 

Ronnie Hernandez (DOB: 8-5-85) pleaded guilty in Denver District Court today in connection with the vehicular homicide death of 19-year-old Qi Zhang which occurred in February.

 

Hernandez appeared in court for his arraignment today, and pleaded guilty to vehicular eluding resulting in death (F3) and vehicular homicide (F4).  Two other charges (leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death and aggravated motor vehicle theft) were dismissed.

 

Hernandez remains in custody in the Denver County Jail and is scheduled to be sentenced on May 23, 2003 at 8:30 a.m.  The presumptive range for sentencing on a class 3 felony is 4 to 12 years.  The range for a class 4 felony is 2 to 6 years.
