WORKER PLEADS GUILTY TO EMBEZZLEMENT

 

Deborah M. Hewitt (DOB: 4-23-69), a former employee of the Parking and Cashier’s Office for the City and County of Denver, was in court today and pleaded guilty to embezzlement of public property (F5). 

 

Hewitt was accused of receiving cash from people paying parking fines and using it for personal gain between July 2001 and March 2002.  She also made unauthorized transactions on several credit card accounts belonging to people who had used their credit card to pay parking fines.  Losses to victims totaled about $13,000.

 

Hewitt will be sentenced on July 14, 2003 at 8:30 am in Denver District Court, room 17.
