CORRECTIONS
OFFICER CHARGED WITH ASSAULT
Denver District
Attorney Bill Ritter, Jr. has charged a Department of
Corrections Officer in connection with an assault on an inmate
at the Denver Receiving and Diagnostic Center. The
investigation was conducted by the Department of Corrections
and was then turned over to the Denver DA’s Office.
Mark Jester
(DOB: 6-25-54) is charged with second-degree assault
(F4).
Jester was walking
with an inmate on October 31, 2003 at the Denver DOC complex.
The charges allege that he intentionally stepped on the
inmate’s leg irons and then threw him to the ground. The
inmate suffered a broken leg.
Jester was
released on $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Denver
County Court on December 16, 2003 to be formally advised of
the charge.
