Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter, Jr. filed formal charges today in connection with an assault that occurred at Lincoln High School last week. Two young men, ages 17 and 19, suffered serious bodily injury after being assaulted in a locker room. Three of five suspects were charged today; the other two suspects are scheduled to appear in Denver Juvenile Court next Tuesday, March 13, 2001. Kenny Martinez (DOB: 7-12-84), Esequiel Sanchez (DOB: 9-27-84), and Louis Salas (DOB: 12-3-83) are being charged as juveniles with two counts of second degree assault (F4), two counts of ethnic intimidation (F4), conspiracy to commit assault (F5), and violent juvenile offender.

They appeared in juvenile court today to be advised of the charges against them. Sanchez is scheduled for a status hearing April 4, 2001. Martinez and Salas are scheduled for a preliminary hearing April 17, 2001.
