KIDNAPPER PLEADS GUILTY

A woman accused of kidnapping a baby last summer has pleaded guilty in Denver District Court today.

Darlene Rueda-Banuelos (DOB: 5-25-73) pleaded guilty to second-degree kidnapping (F4) in connection with the June 3, 2003, kidnapping of two-week old Mauro Ramirez-Soria.

Rueda-Banuelos had befriended the baby’s mother and took the baby while they were out for a walk.  An Amber Alert was issued and the baby was found the next day in a home in northwest Denver following a tip.  Rueda-Banuelos is scheduled to be sentenced on December 15, 2003 at 8:30 a.m. in Denver District Court, Division 16.  The presumptive range for sentencing on a class 4 felony ranges from probation up to 6 years in prison.
