MAN CHARGED IN BRUTAL BEATING OF WOMAN

Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter, Jr. has charged a man in the beating and attempted sexual assault of a woman who approached him and asked him for money last weekend.

30-year-old Clarence King (DOB: 10-3-72) is charged with first-degree assault (F3), attempted sexual assault (F4), and second-degree kidnapping (F4).

The victim had seen the man earlier and reportedly was attacked after she asked him for money. The assault occurred in the alley in the 3300 block of Grape Street just after midnight Friday night, May 16, 2003.  A neighbor called police, who arrived in time to interrupt the assault and take the suspect into custody.
