CHARGES FILED IN VEHICULAR HOMICIDE CASE
Denver
District Attorney Bill Ritter, Jr. has filed formal charges in
connection with a fatal traffic accident that occurred last
weekend. Two people were killed in a collision at
Alameda
Avenue
and Zuni Street early Sunday morning, March 24, 2002.
Nneka
McPhee (DOB
9-22-82) is
charged with two counts of vehicular homicide – DUI (F3)
and vehicular homicide – reckless (F4).
The
victims, Makeda K. Griffo (DOB 6-10-82) and Warren Cox (DOB
6-10-68), were passengers in a vehicle that swerved out of
control and crossed in front of an on-coming vehicle on Alameda
Avenue at Zuni Street. The charges allege that McPhee was
driving. The driver of the other vehicle, Jacobo Marquez-Morena
(DOB:
10-19-79)
was charged with driving while ability impaired and no
proof of insurance.
McPhee
remains in custody at the Denver County Jail. Bond has been set
at $25,000. Her next court appearance is tentatively scheduled
for
Monday, April 1, 2002 at 8:30 a.m. in Denver County Court, room
12T, to be formally advised of the charges.
