ARSON CHARGE FILED IN FIREWORKS CASE

 

Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter, Jr. filed formal charges today against a man accused of shooting fireworks into a bush and starting an apartment complex fire last week.

 

Michael Sinks (DOB: 7-6-65) is charged with first-degree arson (F3). According to the charges, he was shooting pop bottle rockets on July 4, 2003 when one tipped over and fired into a bush. Fire spread from the bush to an apartment building at 6301 West Hampden Avenue and damaged at least six units in the apartment complex. The investigation was conducted by the Denver Fire Department.

 

Sinks has been released from the Denver County Jail on $2,500 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Denver County Court, room 12T, on Wednesday, July 23, 2003 at 9 a.m. to be advised of the charges.
