MURDER CHARGE DISMISSED

A motion was filed by the Denver District Attorney’s Office today requesting that a first-degree murder charge against 39-year-old Kurt Sonnenfeld (DOB 12-18-62) be dismissed without prejudice.  Sonnenfeld had been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of his wife, Nancy, early on January 1, 2002.

The motion said that, based upon the state of the evidence to date, prosecutors did not believe the charge could be proven beyond a reasonable doubt at this time.  The motion to dismiss the charge without prejudice was granted.  It allows prosecutors to re-file the case at a later date if new information becomes available.

The death of Nancy Sonnenfeld has been an on-going investigation and remains an open case at this time.
