DENVER DA HONORED FOR WORK

Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter, Jr. was one of three people honored today by the University of Colorado Therapeutic Community for his commitment and work in fighting drug abuse.

Ritter was joined by District Court Judge Jeffrey Bayless and Joe Stommel, Administrator for Alcohol and Drug Services at the Colorado Department of Corrections in being presented with the 2002 Judicial Award by Peer I and The Haven.  The award was given in appreciation for continuing support of Peer I and The Haven drug treatment programs.  The award ceremony took place at an awards luncheon in Denver today.

Ritter was instrumental in creating Denver’s Drug Court, which was one of the first drug court systems in the country when it was established in 1994.
