CHARGES FILED IN
CAR-JACKING SPREE
Denver District
Attorney Bill Ritter, Jr. filed formal charges against two
people today in connection with a series of aggravated robberies
that occurred last Thursday, August 8, 2002.
19-year-old Harold
Simon (DOB: 2-6-83) is charged with 9 counts of aggravated
robbery (F3), 2 counts of third degree assault (M1),
and a single count each of second degree assault (F4),
vehicular eluding (F5), attempted aggravated robbery
(F4) and conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery (F4).
16-year-old Dominic
James (DOB: 5-22-86) is charged as an adult with 7 counts of
aggravated robbery (F3), and one count each of attempted
aggravated robbery (F4), third degree assault (M1),
vehicular eluding (F5) and conspiracy to commit
aggravated robbery (F4).
The charges allege
that Simon and James committed a series of crimes during the
early morning hours of August 8, 2002 before being arrested
later that same morning. James was arrested near 7th
and Walnut; Simon was arrested near 30th and
Arapahoe.
Simon remains in
custody in the Denver County Jail; his bond has been set at
$150,000. James has been held at the Gilliam Detention Center
but will be transferred to the custody of the Denver County Jail
now that he has been charged as an adult; his bond has been set
at $100,000.
Simon and James are
scheduled to appear in Denver District Court, division 10, at
8:30 a.m., on Monday, August 19, 2002 to be formally advised of
the charges.
