DENVER WOMAN CHARGED IN  

MURDER OF HER BROTHER

Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter Jr. has filed formal charges today in connection with the murder of 21-year-old Alfredo Torres Jr. and the attempted murder of 28-year-old Tina Torres. 

 

Michelle Torres (DOB 3-30-78) is charged with first-degree murder (F1), attempted first-degree murder (F2), and first-degree assault (F3).

 

On January 31, 2002 Denver Police Department responded to a 911 call from a home in the 4400 block of West 1st Avenue.  The victims were found suffering from multiple stab wounds and were transported to Denver Health Medical Center.  Alfredo Torres Jr. died from his injuries; Tina Torres was treated and released.  Michelle Torres is their sister.

 

The defendant remains in custody at the Denver County Jail.  Her next court appearance is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, February 7, 2002 at 9:00 a.m. in Denver County Court, room 12T, to be formally advised of the charges.
