MAN FOUND
GUILTY IN ATTEMPTED MURDER CASE
A man charged with
attempted murder for throwing a woman from a 6th
floor balcony last May has been found guilty by a Denver jury.
Charles Stewart
(DOB: 4-19-60) was convicted of attempted second-degree
murder (F3) and first-degree assault (F3). The jury
began deliberations on Friday about 12:30 p.m., continued
deliberations this morning and returned with a verdict about
10:00 a.m.
Stewart and the
victim, a 44-year-old woman he had been dating, got into an
argument on May 6, 2002. Stewart threw the woman from the
balcony and she landed on a car below, smashing through the rear
window.
Stewart will be
sentenced on May 5, 2003, almost a year to the day of
the attempted murder. He faces from 10 to 32 years in prison.
