MAN SENTENCED IN ATTEMPTED MURDER

 

Charles Stewart (DOB: 4-19-60) was sentenced today for trying to kill his girlfriend a year ago.  The victim and her family, as well as family and friends of Stewart were present for the emotional sentencing hearing in which he was sentenced to 25 years in prison plus five years of parole.

 

Stewart was convicted of attempted second-degree murder (F3) and first-degree assault (F3) on March 10, 2003.  The charges alleged that Stewart threw his girlfriend from a 6th floor balcony on May 6, 2002 after an argument at the victim’s apartment.  The victim landed on a car below, smashing through the rear windshield.
