FILED IN VEHICULAR HOMICIDE

Denver
District Attorney Bill Ritter, Jr. filed formal charges
against a teenager today in connection with a fatal accident
on December 30, 2001.
18-year-old Eric Anderson
(DOB: 6-23-83) is charged with vehicular homicide-DUI
(F3), vehicular homicide-reckless (F4), four counts of vehicular
assault-DUI (F4), four counts of vehicular
assault-reckless (F5), and DUI.
The charges allege that
Anderson was the driver of a vehicle that crashed into a tree
near 6th Avenue and York Street on December 30,
2001. The crash killed 18-year-old Nathan Yip and injured four
other teenagers.
The presumptive range for
sentencing on a class 3 felony is 4 to 12 years in prison; the
range for a class 4 felony is 2 to 6 years; the range for a
class 5 felony is 1 to 3 years.
Anderson is scheduled to
appear in Denver County Court, room 12T, on January 15, 2002
at 9:00 a.m. to be formally advised of the charges. He has
been released from jail on $10,000 bond.
